find identity
The concept of “find identity” comes from the famous photography magazine aperture. This piece consists of an article and interview pertaining to different situations within the Asian-American community. The opening spread presents an article on the growing hate crimes that Asian-Americans have been facing due to COVID-19, while the rest of the spreads focused on an interview that talked about pursuing art as an Asian-American. As an Asian-American myself, I heavily relate to these topics and wanted to make these spreads feel very personable and opening to others who could relate as well. Throughout the spreads, I included various scribbles to make the magazine feel very journal-like. The purpose of this was to create a feeling where the reader could connect better with the text while understanding that it is a very personal subject that many first generation immigrant children can relate to.
